Our Classic Plus Kit™ is designed to enhance your vehicle with improved stability, driving performance, and a unique stance. This is made possible through our exclusive four-corner control Classic Plus air ride gauge. Our kits are specially designed with the Do-It-Yourself enthusiasts in mind, meaning there’s no need for computers, brain boxes, sensors, levelers, extensive wiring, calibration and so forth. We like to describe it as driver seat calibration, using your eyesight and your finger. Just as you have your speedometer needle to gauge your speed and your gas pedal to control it, our Classic Plus gauge operate similarly. Use your finger to adjust the lever up or down, and watch the needles on the gauge to find your preferred pressure point and ride height. With the 4-Corner Control Air Ride gauge panel, you can customize the ride height of your vehicle, lowering it for a sportier feel and better aerodynamics or raising it for fun cruising adventures. This high level of adjustability sets this system apart, offering a ride tailored to your preference and needs.
You might be skeptical about the idea of a four-corner control system, commonly known as FBSS (Front-Back-Side-Side). However, it’s crucial to note that four-corner control is not for showboating side-to-side at the stoplights for the single ladies, it’s vital for maintaining control and minimizing body roll on our classic vehicles, especially the almighty C10’s. The C10 models were mainly intended for use on the farms rather than freeways and most did not come equipped with front sway bars. Additionally, the left side of the vehicle was often noticeably heavier due to factors such as steering columns/boxes, transfer case output, frame mounted fuel tanks and even weight of driver. This led to the well-known phenomenon known as the “Chevy Lean.” Whether you’re accelerating up a freeway on-ramp at 60 mph, swerving to avoid a deer in the backwoods, hauling, or adjusting for additional passenger weight, four-corner control is key.
The main difference between our Classic Kits and premium Elite Kits is the air line plumbing configuration. In the Classic Kits, 1/4″ paddle valve switches and air lines are utilized, connecting from the dash-mounted gauge to the airbags. Additionally, two more air lines are routed from the gauge back to the tank to supply the bags. While there is no air sound during the vehicle lift, you will hear the release of air from the paddle valves located where the gauge panel is installed. If you prefer a simpler plumbing setup and do not want to hear the air release from the gauge panel inside your vehicle, we recommend considering our Elite Kit.
WHATS INCLUDED: Introducing our exclusive EZ AIRRIDE™ airbags & brackets, specially designed for all 1963-1987 Chevy Square Body’s featuring front coil springs, and rear leaf springs. Our 2600 series airbags offer more stroke than traditional 2600 series airbags, compressing down to 2.8 inches and extending to 12.5 inches, providing useable stroke of nearly 10 inches. This increased stroke results in lower pressure within the bags, ultimately delivering a more dynamic ride quality. Whether you’re planning an LS swap, have a 454 big block engine, or want to fit 20″ rims on your pickup and tow a yacht with a Harley in the bed, our airbags can handle it all. Each 2600 series airbag has a max load rating of 3,055 lbs @ 100 psi. Whether it be for laying it on the lawn at the show, preventing pipes from scraping along the driveway, header collectors catching speed bumps, to the added passenger weight scrubbing the tires on turns. Experience the difference with EZ AIRRIDE™. More stroke less filling™
Installing front bags and brackets simplified: Our Square Body/C10 2600 series bags and front brackets require nothing more than a socket set and drill for a hassle-free installation, making them the simplest air ride vehicle setup. It’s worth noting that the Square Body/C10 is one of the few GM byproducts where the front shocks are factory-mounted outside the coil springs, eliminating the need for shock relocation. This means no welding is required, further simplifying the installation process. If you’re using or planning to use front aftermarket tubular control arms, don’t worry. These lower brackets are completely compatible with most aftermarket tubular control arms. However, please note that you’ll need to remove the entire bump stop from any style lower control arm to ensure sufficient air bag clearance.
Our front bolt-on airbag brackets feature powder-coated finishes to enhance durability and provide added protection. All necessary airbag/bracket hardware, including nuts, bolts, washers and the required 3/8″ all-thread is included.
Our rear bag brackets have a unique design where they are welded to the axle housing’s underside. This design positions the bottom of the air bag at the same level as the axle’s bottom. Allowing the upper bag bracket to weld to the frame. This is different from the traditional bag brackets that are placed on the axle housing’s top, positioning the air bag several inches above the axle. We don’t provide these kinds of brackets because the upper air bag bracket requires welding to a large notch. This usually means cutting the frame in half and making a hole in your truck bed for clearance. If you plan to do this, our under-the-bed style air ride kit might not be the right fit for you.
NO SHOCKS INCLUDED: WHY NOT? 🤷♂️ When seeking to install airbags onto your Square Body/C10, many companies will push you to buy their stylish, brushed aluminum, foxy looking overpriced shocks. All the while emphasizing the necessity of fancy dropped shocks for an air ride system. The reality is that a superior airbag is shouldering 90% of the suspension work. The shock is merely a standby damper for those unexpected encounters with large potholes or when you’re speeding over a set of railroad tracks at 45 mph. That’s the reason we don’t include shocks with the Square Body kits. We advise you to simply visit your favorite auto parts store and request the most affordable STOCK gas shock suitable for your specific vehicle model. Put the $300.00-$400.00 we saved you back into your wallet.
Keep in mind, that this advice may not hold true for every airbag you come across online, as not all airbags are produced to our exceptional standards. Let’s say you’ve stumbled upon some used bags on Marketplace, or a new set from a different brand on Amazon/eBay that only compresses down to 3 inches and expands to a maximum of 7 to 7.5 inches. In such a case, you’re left with a mere 4 inches of usable stroke. Picture yourself driving your heavy Chevy with an LS swap, equipped with 20″ rims, and your car show travel buddy happens to be a former linebacker. In this situation, a mere 4 inches of stroke would indeed be laughable. You’d have to resort to maximum pressure in the bag just to ensure enough tire/wheel well clearance for cruising. This is precisely why other companies are eager to sell you an expensive, dampening drop shock. Their aim is merely to offset the excessive inflation of a bag that provides very little stroke, resulting in a rigid ride. More stroke less filling™
AIR TANK: Introducing our Square Body/C10 specific air tank! Because of it’s ideal size this 5-gallon steel tank is tailored for convenient mounting under the bed of your Square Body/ C10. Measuring approximately 30″ in length, 6″ in diameter, and a height of 7.25″ it strikes the ideal balance between ample air storage and a space-saving design. Enjoy optimal performance for your trucks air ride system with our discreet, low-profile air tank.
To achieve the ideal tank placement, the spacious underside of the 63 through 87 Chevy truck models offers several options. Most truck builders choose to relocate the fuel tank from its original position behind the seat inside the cab, or from the outside of the frame rail to underneath the bed behind the axle, prioritizing safety and efficiency. It is important to acknowledge that this configuration may not allow enough space for an air tank to be placed inside the frame, alongside the fuel tank. As a result, we recommend mounting the tank directly in front of the rear bumper, between the frame rails, where the spare tire would traditionally be stored. This placement ensures optimal functionality and positioning.
In the event that your Square Body/C10 is equipped with a pro touring 30 gallon fuel tank, which is currently crammed tightly between the axle and rear bumper, leaving no space whatsoever. There is a viable alternative, you can opt to mount this tank along the frame, either under the driver’s or passenger’s door. In order to secure the tank in any of these locations, you will only need to fabricate a couple of L-shaped brackets to keep the tank in position. If none of these options prove successful, another option is to mount the tank in the bed, perhaps within a toolbox, behind the seat, or any other suitable spot. Tanks! 👌
